According to the report "Bringing AI into the Workplace" published by Microsoft in Vietnam on May 23rd, artificial intelligence, especially generative AI, is attracting increasing interest from both workers and business leaders.

A survey of 31,000 workers from 31 countries, including Vietnam, shows that the use of Generative AI in the workplace has nearly doubled in the past six months. Popular tools include ChatGPT, Copilot, and GitHub Copilot.

On average, 3 out of every 4 people surveyed are using AI, equivalent to 751 TP3T. In Vietnam alone, Microsoft's data shows that 881 TP3T of those surveyed said they use AI in the workplace, higher than the global average. Among these, most Vietnamese users indicated that AI is a way for them to start and end their workday.

“"Many employees struggling to keep up with the pace and volume of work say AI helps them save time, boost creativity, and allow them to focus on core tasks," the report states.

Microsoft has also observed a trend in Vietnam where workers are equipping themselves with AI tools for use, rather than waiting for deployment from their companies or organizations. Data shows that approximately 701,000 users across all generations are using personal AI tools for work.

Meanwhile, at the management level, 89% business leaders in Vietnam believe their companies need to adopt AI to remain competitive, but nearly half are concerned about the lack of a specific implementation plan and vision.

According to Microsoft, employees proactively using AI without a comprehensive strategy can lead to missed benefits from widespread AI adoption and increase the risk of data security breaches for the company.

Assessing the fact that Vietnamese workers use AI more than the world average, Ms. Nguyen Quynh Tram, General Director of Microsoft Vietnam, said that AI is now not only used for simple tasks such as translating documents, summarizing, or composing emails, but is increasingly used for work requiring creativity. However, encouragement of AI use from leadership levels is low, and this is contrary to the global trend.

“"Vietnam needs to further promote mechanisms that encourage organizations, businesses, and leaders not only to experiment but also to leverage AI as one of the primary means to achieve business goals and optimize organizational efficiency," she said.
